How can I link my Istanbul card to HES Code?
If you do not need to use public transportation in Istanbul, you still can use your HES code when entering to Restaurants, museums, shopping malls and all the place that requires HES code. Otherwise, if you have tried to use public transportation recently, you probably know that your current Istanbul card will not work without HES Code. Here is how you can link your Istanbul card to HES Code.
Whether you are a resident or a commuter, since 15 of January 2021, you need to link your Istanbul card to HES Code in order to use public transportation. Passengers will not be allowed to use any public transportation without their HES code being added to their Istanbul card, according to pandemic restrictions in Turkey.
Please keep in mind that as a result, it is no longer possible to use one Istanbul card for several people. It means that since now on, each Istanbul card can only be used by one person of which you link their HES Code.

Link your Istanbul card to your HES Code
If you have gotten your HES Code, the rest is easy. Just follow this article and easily link your Istanbul Kart to your HES Code.
- First of all, you need to visit Istanbul municipality website which is designed for the same reason. This website is now available in Turkish and English language. We provided you with the direct link below:

by clicking on the link above, you will be redirected to the website.
If you are not a Turkish citizen, tick the box which says “I am a foreigner, I want to continue by my passport number.” Now you won’t need to provide a phone number.
- Fill in the form with required information of yours. In “Card Number” section, add the 16 digit number you see on your Istanbul card.
- In the next section, you need to enter your HES Code.
- In the last box, you need to write the security code you see on the left side.
- Make sure that you tick all three boxes below to give access to the website to verify your request and link your Istanbul card to HES Code. By clicking on “Done” button, you will receive this message.
